Overview
In-app messaging with Knock
Learn how to build in-app notification feeds and in-product guides with Knock.
In addition to delivering to out-of-app channels such as email, push, SMS, and chat apps like Slack, you can also use Knock to power messaging experiences inside your own application.
Knock offers two in-app channel types:
- In-app feed. A channel for building stateful in-app experiences like feeds, inboxes, and toasts. Workflows and broadcasts generate feed messages and your application fetches them for the current user.
- In-app guide. A channel for powering in-product UI such as banners, modals, paywalls, and announcements that use your own components. Guides are evaluated at render time based on targeting and activation rules you manage in the Knock dashboard.
Both channel types capture engagement events, such as when a user sees, clicks, or dismisses a message, so you can track how users interact with your in-app messaging from your Knock account. Learn more about message engagement statuses.
